The rare, socially parasitic ant species Tetramorium inquilinum was rediscovered at the type locality Saas-Fee after 71 years. The host colony was determined by mitochondrial DNA and morphometry as Tet. alpestre. The habitat is an alpine grassland at 2185 m. a.s.l. The possible distribution and abundance of Tet. inquilinum is discussed.
