Code and data associated with Pardo-Álvarez et al. (2026)

Data description This repository provides the code and data required to reproduce all the test case results presented in Pardo-Álvarez et al. (2026). The archived dataset consists of the following directories: + input_files.zip: comprises all the data files required by mesh_and_data_dicts.m to generate the mesh and data dictionaries of test_case.zip. + OpenFOAM_1D_data_plotter.zip: includes a MATLAB script and its associated functions for generating 1D graphs of OpenFOAM output data at different mesh patches (boundaries). To execute the script, an input dictionary must be specified for the output data files (default: test_case). In Pardo-Álvarez et al. (2026), this script set was used to plot: The average water temperature at the outlet patch of the surface and subsurface domains (Fig. 8). The solute fluxes across the surface and subsurface outlet patches, as well as the interface patch (Fig. 10a and 10b). The solute mass in each domain and the total mass in the system (Fig. 10c). Accordingly, a subdirectory for each data type and domain was created within the input dictionary. + test_case.zip: contains the simulation setup, structured into the standard OpenFOAM directories (i.e., 0, constant and system), which include the MATLAB-generated dictionaries and the remaining files required to run the simulation.
