Coastal Zone

The Coastal Zone is an area along the California coastline subject to the regulations of the California Coastal Act of 1976 (California Public Resources Code Division 20). In general, development within this zone requires additional permitting and oversight from the County of Santa Cruz Planning Department and/or the California Coastal Commission. The polygon featured here is just the portion of the Coastal Zone within Santa Cruz County. See the California Coastal Commission for the full boundary of the Coastal Zone.
