The project aims to characterize the bacterial diversity and composition of the fecal microbiota of blackbirds (Turdus merula) using samples collected from southern Finland. The goal is to gain insights into how habitat urbanization affects the fecal microbiota of wild animals. We collected fecal samples from 3 different urban locations around the Helsinki area and quantified the microbiota using amplicon sequencing of the 16s rRNA gene v5-v6 region.
