NRS-21486 | Registers of patients - Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) [Balmain Hospital]

These are registers of patients treated in Balmain Hospital's Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). The 4-bed unit was established in 1970 (1) and closed in December 1992, the last patient discharged on 16th. (2)The volumes are chronological with each day represented by a double page spread. Patients and their details are listed on each day of their stay, not just the day of admission. Although the use of some of the columns is not consistent, generally the information recorded for each patient includes: bed number (usually 1-4); name, age and medical record number; HMO (Hospital Medical Officer); diagnosis; date admitted; from (e.g. CAS [casualty]); number of days in CCU; transferred (e.g. home, ward). A remarks column contains notes on the patient's treatment, medications and where transferred to.Endnotes1.
