Three new hoverfly species from Greece (Diptera: Syrphidae). Three new hoverfly species from Greece (Diptera: Syrphidae)

An ongoing investigation of hoverfly fauna from Greece using adult morphologicalcharacteristics, has revealed a cryptic species within three genera. Here we enhance theknowledge of Mediterranean hoverfly fauna with a description of three new species: Cheilosiacandida Vujić et Radenković sp. n. (Pindos Mountains), Paragus thracusi Radenković, Likov etVujić sp. n. (Rhodope Mountains) and Psilota aegeae Vujić, Ståhls et Smit sp. n. (Lesvosisland). We provide diagnoses for each species, as well an addition to the existing identificationkeys for a Mediterranean species of the subgenus Convocheila Barkalov of the genus CheilosiaMeigen and a European species of the genus Psilota Meigen. We additionally provide mtDNACOI barcodes for a European species of the genus Psilota. We also discuss the taxonomic statusof the species Psilota anthracina Meigen.
