Obesity and related metabolic syndromes pose a growing global health challenge, increasingly linked to severe complications including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. High-fat diet (HFD) serves as a key environmental driver of obesity, disrupting gut microbiota structure and host metabolic pathways to promote lipid accumulation and systemic inflammation. The gut microbiota plays a vital role in metabolic regulation by producing bioactive molecules such as short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and bile acids (BAs) that modulate energy balance and immune function. Pediococcus acidilactici YH-15, a potential probiotic strain, demonstrates promise in ameliorating HFD-induced metabolic dysregulation, providing a foundation for developing weight-management therapeutics for cats.
