In this work we report genome sequences of elven Grosmannia clavigera sensu lato strains from the two known sibling species, Grosmannia sp. (Gs) and G. clavigera (Gc) vectored by the mountain pine beetle and jeffrey pine beetle, respectively. Our goals were to sequence the eleven strains, assembled their draft genome sequences, and report a comprehensive assessment of intra and interspecies genomic variations . We applied genome-wide SNP phylogenies of twelve Grosmannia strains to test whether the genome dataset confirm our recent genealogical study that Gs and Gc are distinct lineages and whether it provides further evidence of ecological and/or geographic divergence in these fungi. Focusing on SNPs that are predicted to alter proteins, we assess evidence for fungal adaptation to different species of pine (P. contorta, P. jeffreyi, P. ponderosa). We identify genes that show evidence of adaptive selection, and relate these variations to differences in fungal ecology and biology.
