Two new mixed-ligand coordination polymers {[Co(L)(btrb)](H2O)4}n (1, btrb = 1,4-bis((1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene, H2L = 3,3′-azodibenzoic acid) and [Cu(L)(bimb)2]n (2, bimb = 1,4-bis((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene) have been successfully prepared by reaction of 3,3′-azodibenzoic acid with the corresponding metal salts and the different N-donor ligands. Furthermore, the protective activity of compounds 1 and 2 on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) was evaluated and the specific mechanism was explored. Firstly, the RT-PCR was performed to detect the content of the alanine aminotransferase (ALT) expression in liver cells after compounds treatment. Next, the content of the triglyceride in the blood was evaluated with triglyceride content determination kit.
