Minority and majority pre-treatment human immunodeficiency virus drug resistance associated with virologic failure of first-line treatment in Kenyan women

Ultra-deep massively-parallel sequences retrospectively generated by Illumina technology from two PCR amplified regions of HIV-1 pol encoding reverse transcriptase from 162 Kenyan women initiating NNRTI-based ART with and without a history of sdNVP for PMTCT. Sequencing datasets were analyzed using an in-house developed bioinformatics pipeline to detect low-frequency drug resistant strains of HIV prior to ART initiation.
