Gut Metagenomic Profiling of Oxycarenus laetus upon Exposure to Prefenofos

Dusky cotton bug Oxycarenus laetus (Hemiptera: Lygaeidae) is among the secondary pests of cotton crops. The bug causes qualitative and quantitative damage to the crop, and thereby leading to economic losses. These bugs have become resistant to wide range of pesticides. Therefore, there is a need to understand the gut metagenomic profile of this bug to establish resistance to gut microbiota relationship. We have used 10ppm Profenofos, an organophosphate to understand the effect of this pesticide on the gut microbial dynamics of this bug.
