Genome sequencing of Cupriavidus sp. TKC. Cupriavidus

Gamma isomer of hexachlorocyclohexane (gamma-HCH) is a chlorinated organic insecticide that has caused environmental pollution because of its recalcitrant and toxic characteristics. To understand cooperative relationships in microbial degradation of gamma-HCH, a bacterial consortium that can degrade gamma-HCH was obtained from a sediment from Kyushu Island, Japan, contaminated with HCH isomers by enrichment culture using a minimal medium containing gamma-HCH as a sole carbon source. We previously reported the complete genome of a gamma-HCH-degrading strain, Sphingobium sp. TKS (Genome Announc. 2016 4: e00247-16) and a non-degrading strain, Pseudomonas sp. TKP (Genome Announc. 2014 2: e01241-13) isolated from the consortium. Here we performed genome sequencing of another non-degrading bacteria, Cupriavidus sp. TKC, isolated from the same consortium.
