Pupils classed as disadvantaged in Bristol (by Ward)

Disadvantaged pupils are defined by the Department for Education through eligibility for the Pupil Premium. Children who have been eligible for free school meals during the past six years, children who are in care and children previously in care who left in particular circumstances such as adoption. Pupils are usually eligible for free school meals if the family has been claiming benefits at some point in the last six years. The money that being designated as ‘disadvantaged’ attracts is spent directly on the pupil and is designed to reduce the educational gap between those that are disadvantaged and those that aren’t.
