Surficial Geology of Bunger Hills, Australian Antarctic Territory, GIS Dataset

The Surficial Geology of Bunger Hills GIS dataset is a lithostratigraphic classification of the Bunger Hills region in the Australian Antarctic Territory. The mapped area is approximately 600 km2 including Bunger Hills, Fuller Island, Thomas Island, and the Highjump Archipelago. The GIS dataset includes 11 surficial materials comprising glacial deposits, periglacial deposits, coastal deposits, bedrock outcrop, persistent snow accumulations, and lakes. Unit boundaries were mapped remotely from satellite imagery and aerial photos and verified with field observations.Mapping was completed at 1:2000 scale and is best viewed in a digital format.Fieldwork was supported by the Australian Antarctic Program under Australian Antarctic Science Program Project 4620.
