Tourist population dataset for Motuo, Tibet in 2024

Motuo County, located in Linzhi City of the Tibet Autonomous Region, is situated within the core area of the Yarlung Zangbo Canyon and possesses complete vertical natural zones, as well as rich biodiversity. The complex and unique natural environment endows it with remarkably high natural and cultural tourism value. With the advancement of hydropower projects in the lower Yarlung Zangbo, the potential of eco-friendly hydropower tourism will promote the diversified development of tourism value in Motuo. Systematic and comprehensive tourist attributes data constitute an essential foundation for evidence-based tourism management and optimizing the conservation-development equilibrium, supplementing natural environmental data within smart eco-tourism sustainability assessment and standardization frameworks. This dataset comprises 63,159 validated samples of tourists entering Motuo County in 2024, compiled from visitor registration records. This dataset contains information such as the tourists’ gender, ethnicity, travel dates, and tourist sources. After review and verification, the data is accurate and reliable. The data provide scientific support for ecological tourism planning, development, utilization, and conservation in southeastern Tibet.
