Changes in retinal photosensitivity in diabetic retinopathy therapy

Diabetic retinopathy leads to damage to the neurosensory apparatus of the retina. Already in the nonproliferative stage of DR, the photosensitivity of the retina decreases. Scotomas appear, respectively, of hard exudates, cotton wool spots and retinal hemorrhages. Treatment should aim at improving retinal feeding and function. Therefore, the effectiveness of treatment can be assessed by changing the retinal photosensitivity of using computer perimetry.
