Extensive Urban Survey - Peterborough

The project aimed to enhance the HER for the historic core of Peterborough and produce an Assessment Report. This included a synthetic analysis of the urban core of Peterborough that will form the basis for future plans for the conservation of the historic environment within sustainable development, and urban regeneration. Finally, it would provide a research resource for students, academics, local interest groups and members of the general public. This report is the result of a joint project by Peterborough City Council and Cambridgeshire County Council with funding from Historic England to examine the historic core of Peterborough through the implementation of an Extensive Urban Survey. This project aimed to collate and re-evaluate Peterborough's known urban archaeological resource. It provided a comprehensive, updated and consistent information baseline which will be used to inform regeneration proposals, land use and general planning strategies, and to promote detailed research.
