LANGUAGE LEARNING THROUGH MOVIES: A MODERN AND EFFECTIVE APPROACH

This study investigates the cognitive effectiveness of acquiring foreign languages through cinematography, a topic situated at the intersection of modern psycholinguistics and pedagogy. The primary objective is to scientifically substantiate the role of audio-visual content in reducing the "affective filter" and fostering natural communicative competence among learners. A qualitative analysis was employed to demonstrate how the "live" dialogue environments in films surpass the artificial constructions found in traditional textbooks. The findings indicate that film-based learning not only expands vocabulary but also, through cognitive restructuring, liberates the learner from the habit of direct translation from their native language. Linguistic markers identified during the research, including phonetic mimicry and pragmatic adaptation, confirm the value of films as simulators for real-life interaction. Final conclusions suggest that language materials reinforced by visual context are retained in long-term memory more effectively and positively impact the learner’s emotional intelligence. This paper provides a set of practical recommendations for both methodologists and independent language learners.
