Negativeome catalog (negative control-associated vOTU sequence catalog) and data for "Negativeome in Early-Life Virome Studies: Characterization and Decontamination"

Metadata, genomic data, and vOTU table for the study "Negativeome in Early-Life Virome Studies: Characterization and Decontamination".Briefly, present data were collected and generated using 1,321 early-life and maternal gut viromes and 55 negative controls (NCs) from four publicly available viral-like particle-enriched metagenomic datasets. We annotated viral communities using a custom pipeline and identified 971,583 putative virus sequences clustered to 193,970 viral operational taxonomic units (vOTUs). We further identified viral contaminants present in NCs and their prevalence across samples from different studies and performed sample decontamination at the strain level.Code is available here.
