资源简介:
This study explored the relationship between ADHD trait scores and self-reported curiosity in adults. ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition associated with difficulties in attention, organisation, and impulse control (American Psychiatric Association, 2013; Holst & Thorell, 2019). However, recent research and lived experience from neurodivergent communities suggest that ADHD may also be associated with certain strengths, including curiosity and particularly the tendency to become deeply interested in specific topics or to seek out novel ideas (Sedgwick et al., 2019; Schippers et al., 2022). Curiosity plays an important role in learning and memory and has been linked to increased activity in brain regions involved in motivation and attention (Gruber et al., 2014; Kang et al., 2009). Although curiosity and ADHD traits share characteristics such as novelty-seeking and exploratory behaviour, their relationship has received limited empirical attention. This study addressed that gap by examining whether ADHD trait scores, as measured by the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS), are associated with overall curiosity scores, as measured by the Curiosity and Exploration Inventory-II (CEI-II). Participants completed an anonymous online survey including these two validated questionnaires, alongside a short set of demographic and contextual questions. The aim was to better understand how ADHD traits and curiosity may be linked, potentially informing more inclusive approaches to education and support that recognise both the challenges and strengths associated with neurodivergence.
