Lake Estancia and Great Salt Plains Targeted Locus (Loci). hypersaline lake metagenome

Genomic DNA isolated from sediments collected from the two lakes was subjected to 454 pyrosequencing. The primers targeted the V1-V3 region of the 16S rRNA gene to study the microbial diversity. Sulfate-reducing bacterial enrichment culture developed from Lake Estancia were also pyrosequenced.
