Berberine ameliorates bone loss under estrogen-deficiency: gut microbiome analysis

Bone resorption under estrogen-deficiency is known to be associated with abnormal bone immunity mediated by the gut-bone axis. The present study investigated the effects of berberine, a Traditional Chinese Medicine with known gut microbiota modulating activity, on bone loss under estrogen-deficiency, and further explored its underlying mechanisms with a particular focus on intestinal barrier.
