External fixation vs K‑wire fixation in pediatric patients with high-level extension type supracondylar humeral fracture

52 patients (15 underwent external fixation and 37 underwent K-wire fixation) with at least one year follow-up was included. Functional and cosmetic outcomes including open reduction rate, post-surgical carrying angle, Baumann angle, humeral-capitellar angle, and the occurrence rate of common complications including motion limitations, infections, or ulnar nerve injury and unacceptable cubitus varus were measured. We also correlated these results with age, right or left side and gender. A one-year follow-up was carried out for investigation of recovery of range of motion (ROM), at several time points.
