Police Business District Unit Focus Areas

The Business District Unit, which includes a Dublin Police sergeant and two officers, emphasizes addressing safety issues and concerns within the city’s business districts, such as the Bridge Park Business District. The unit follows the Dublin Police philosophy of having officers in the right places at the right times for the right reasons. The unit focuses on several key areas of the city’s densely populated areas. Engaging Proactively: Building relationships with residents, homeowners and civic associations, business owners, developers such as Crawford Hoying, and visitors to create a safer, connected community Crime Prevention: Partnering with the community through social media, personal outreach, and collaboration with businesses, residents and patrons to identify crime patterns and trends Traffic Safety: Addressing community concerns about speed, noise, reckless driving, loading zone adherence and other traffic issues, including campaigns like Slow Down Dublin Problem-Solving: Working alongside stakeholders to find solutions to business district challenges Incident Response: Preparing for and responding to critical incidents Event Safety: Planning and executing safety measures for events in the district Criminal Investigations: Managing cases of theft, vandalism, assault and other offenses BDU officers use proven law enforcement approaches, such as community-oriented policing, problem-oriented policing, and the SARA model (Scanning, Analysis, Response, Assessment). BDU officers will be present in the city’s business districts from Wednesdays through Sundays. As always, Dublin Police officers will respond to any issue 24/7 throughout the city.
