PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original paper for a release paper having excellent filling property and capable of forming a uniform release agent layer， and a release paper including a uniform release agent layer and having excellent glossiness， adhesion， and detachability. SOLUTION: Disclosed herein are: an original paper for a release paper assembled with a base paper and， at least on one side of the base paper， a filling layer， wherein the filling layer contains at least a pigment， a resin latex， and a cellulose nanofiber having a number average fiber length of 20 nm or over and 250 nm or under; and a release paper using this original paper for a release paper.
