French 3P genotype. BBX

Terminal buds were harvested on six branches located on a same accession of pedunculated oak (3P). The position of 6 branches from the bottom to the top of the tree were chosen to represent a "gradient" in terms of number of mitosis since the zygote . For each branch , a wood core was performed at its insertion to the trunk to determine its cambial age. This way we were able to estimate the age of each sample: i.e. 70, 65, 47, 35 and 10 years old, respectively. The age (82 years old) of the cell lineage of the bud located at the top of tree (axis 1) was determined using a wood core performed at the base of the trunk.
