Metaphor corpus for the project "Metaphorical conceptualization of gender in stand-up comedy"

This dataset contains a corpus of metaphorical expressions related to gender identity, extracted from 30 popular Polish stand-up comedy performances published on YouTube between 2018 and 2022. The corpus was created as part of the research project Metaphorical conceptualization of gender in stand-up comedy funded by the National Science Centre, Poland (NCN), grant no. 2022/45/N/HS2/01394. The project is supervised by Prof. Jeannette Littlemore (University of Birmingham). The corpus comprises 451 annotated items from 31 source performances (30 analysed) by 25 comedians. Metaphors were identified using the MIPVU procedure and a dictionary-based method (including the Polish Wordnet — Słowosieć, Słownik Języka Polskiego PWN, and Merriam-Webster Dictionary). Annotation was carried out by a single annotator with expert verification. The data is provided under a CC BY 4.0 licence in the CSV format.
