Reference gene analysis of synovial tissue from osteoarthritis patients

The stability of expression of 10 reference genes was evaluated in the synovial tissue of 20 patients with end-stage osteoarthritis using four distinct analytical methods. The most stable genes were identified by means of a subsequent rank-order analysis. The analysis considered the entire sample pool and various subgroups (age, sex, BMI, synovitis score). Following comprehensive analysis, RPL13A, PPIA and EEF1A1 were identified as the most stable reference genes, exhibiting minimal variability between subgroups. Conversely, GAPDH was identified as the least suitable reference gene due to its high degree of variability in expression.
