Toponyms extracted from the maps of Marco Antonio Fossa (c. 1721)

The dataset contains over a thousand topnyms extracted from Marco Antonio Fossa's maps, dating back to around 1721 and depicting the domains of the Doria family in the area that today lies between the municipalities of Fontanigorda, Rezzoaglio, Rovegno and Santo Stefano d'Aveto (Liguria, north-western Italy).The dataset has been developed within the framework of the project PRIN 2022 “Bridging geography and history of woodlands: analysing mountain wooded landscapes through multiple sources and historical GIS” (2022EKECST), funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU (CUP E53D23010170006).
