A TOGAF based Ontology of the Higher Education Reference Models (HERM)

Ontologies play a crucial role in structuring knowledge for the Semantic Web, while Enterprise Architecture (EA) methodologies, such as TOGAF®, guide digital transformation in complex ecosystems. The higher education reference models (HERM) constitute a Enterprise Reference Architecture, a framework which is applied globally in more than 1000 institutions.This RDF-based dataset provides a comprehensive ontology of HERM firmly rooted in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), thus bringing all previously mentioned parts together. The resulting ontology captures English and German concepts. In addition, we provide the spreadsheet tools for the conversion of new versions of HERM and also adding further languages.The methodology is submitted for presentation at the EUNIS 2025 conference in Belfast.
