Implementing FAIR in Practice: A Data Stewards Perspective from the MultiplEYE Project - A Use Case of Embedded Data Stewardship

Embedded data stewardship integrates data management competence directly into research teams to support the implementation of FAIR principles throughout the entire data lifecycle. This approach ensures that data collection, documentation, and publication processes are standardized, interoperable, and sustainable. Within the MultiplEYE project - a large-scale, multilingual eye-tracking-while-reading data collection effort involving numerous collection sites worldwide - the embedded Data Steward coordinates harmonized protocols, metadata documentation, and quality assurance workflows. Providing a bridge between researchers, infrastructure providers, and future data re-users, the Data Steward facilitates the preparation of datasets for open access and long-term reuse.
