The Stamp Duties Act, 1920 imposes the collection of duty on the transfer of property or goods. This series contains a sample of applications for impressed duty stamps lodged by Law Stationers on behalf of country solicitors. Many documents concern contracts of sale, share transfers and agreements, which were never finalised, and hence the duty owing was never paid.
