Global datasets linking Na-rich carbonate metasomatism to magmatic PGE sulfide mineralisation in cratonic lithosphere

This repository contains the global spatial and geochemical datasets and codes used to evaluate the relationship between Na-rich carbonatitic metasomatism and magmatic platinum-group element (PGE) sulfide mineralisation within cratonic lithosphere. The compiled dataset includes: (1) global occurrences of carbonatites and kimberlites; (2) intracontinental ultramafic–mafic volcanic rocks; (3) mantle xenolith records, including whole-rock peridotite and clinopyroxene compositions; and (4) magmatic PGE sulfide deposits with geographic coordinates and reported resource estimates. All data processing, distance calculations, and statistical analyses were performed using Python 3.13. Original datasets, processed outputs, and scripts required to reproduce the analyses presented in Figure 1A–D of the paper Sodic carbonate melts drive mantle platinum enrichment and extraction to the crust are provided in this repository.
