Chronic stress is commonly associated with enhanced abdominal pain (visceral hyperalgesia). The cellular mechanisms underlying how chronic stress induces visceral hyperalgesia are poorly understood. In the present study, we performed next generation RNA-sequencing of rat colon epithelial cells to explore transcriptome changes in a validated chronic stress rat model - chronic intermittent water avoidance stress rat.
