Import volume of coal from Indonesia Japan FY 2000-2020

In the fiscal year 2020, Japan imported approximately 25.23 million metric tons of coal from Indonesia. Following Australia, Indonesia was the second-largest supplier of coal imports to Japan that year.Since Japan lacks domestic reserves of fossil fuels, it is heavily dependent on imports. Therefore, the Japanese government currently aims to replace fossil fuels with nuclear and renewable energy sources.
