The two well-described test chemicals Phenytoin and Propylthiouracil were used to induce direct and indirect thyroid toxicity in male Wistar rats. Both compounds were administered via the diet at two concentrations for 2 and 4 weeks. In addition, a recovery period of 2 weeks without test substance application was included in order to monitor reversibility of the induced effects. Each test groups including the control groups consisted of 10 male Wistar rats. Phenytoin was administered at concentrations of 300 and 2400 ppm, Propylthiouracil was administered at concentrations of 5 and 50 ppm. Control animals received maintenance diet only without inclusion of any test substance.The whole project evaluates the potential of multi-omics data integration in a toxicological setting. Therefore, short and long RNA-seq data (deposited in the SRA), proteomics, phosphoproteomics, and metabolomics data was generated.
