In this study, we analysed the active rice straw degrading microbiota in the rhizosphere and bulks soil of Zea maize in a maize-rice (MR) crop rotation system. 13 C labelled rice straw was applied to the soil and the active straw degrading microbiota was analysed via DNA-SIP. The bacterial and fungal community composition was analysed by 16S rRNA gene and ITS based amplicon sequencing.
