Lacrimispora sp. 38-1 Genome sequencing. Lacrimispora sp. 38-1

Lacrimispora sulfatireducens strain 38-1 is an anaerobic, (hemi)cellulosic, sulphate-reducing bacterium isolated from the Bolivian Andean region. It is a Gram-positive, teardrop-shaped spore-forming cell, mesophilic, with a G+C content of 43,3 mol %. L. sulfatireducens can ferment many sugars and produce both fatty acids and H2S by degrading hemicellusic materials. Formerly grouped under the genus Clostridium by the time it was isolated; however, since 2019 it has been phylogenetically reclassified inside the genus Lacrimispora.
