The effect of multi-strain probiotics on DIO mouse. mouse gut metagenome

This study demonstrated that the multi-strain probiotics, containing six strains of lactic acids bacteria and a Bifidobacterium strain, showed a beneficial effect on reducing body weight gain, glucose intolerance, hepatic steatosis with a specific influence in gut microbiota composition in HFD-fed mice, but not in WD-fed mice. In addition, AB-kefir significantly attenuated body fat by regulated the genes related to fatty acid uptake, triglyceride synthesis, and glucose homeostasis in diet-induced obese mice. Overall, this study provides a critical evidence to understand the interactions between probiotics, gut microbiota, and diet in obesity treatment.
