Photon Blackening at the Event Horizon - RJW

Photon Blackening at the Event Horizon: A Speculative Force-Line Helix Knotting Reinterpretation in the Quantum Big Bang Framework (QBB) – RJW A bold, honest hypothesis on why black holes are truly black—no light escapes, but not because it's "trapped" forever. Black holes appear black because no light comes out. General relativity says infalling photons are infinitely redshifted or orbit-trapped at the event horizon. Hawking radiation predicts a faint thermal glow from quantum vacuum pairs—but it's never been detected, and upper limits remain far below predictions. This preprint offers a speculative reinterpretation within the Quantum Big Bang (QBB) force-line model: photons are helical force-line structures of positron-electron equivalents (180° out-of-phase spirals) propagating just below c due to geometric path-length drag. At the event horizon, extreme gravitational acceleration boosts drag to full c, forcing the helix to tighten and transition from open propagating wave to bound vibrational knots—equivalent to real e⁺e⁻ pairs falling inward. The photon "disappears" because its structure changes state from light to infalling matter. No light remains to escape; the black hole is black because absorbed photons become the charge-mass crossing the horizon. While untestable directly (no probe has crossed a horizon), this aligns with real laboratory observations when viewed through fresh eyes: Pair production (gamma photons ≥ 1.022 MeV → e⁺e⁻, confirmed in labs since 1930s, Breit-Wheeler 2021 at Brookhaven). Horizon blueshift (infalling light gains energy, observed in accretion disk spectra). Photon effective mass in photonic crystals and waveguides (m_eff ~ 10⁻³⁵ kg). CNR Nanotec/Pavia polariton supersolid (March 2025): light gains mass-like behavior in a waveguide, forming solid structure with superfluid flow—visual parallel to helical knotting. Builds directly on prior QBB force-line papers (see Section 1.1 for DOIs): photon as helix (Photon Reborn), mass as drag (Orbital Force-Lines), neutrinos as closed helices, black holes as 5D pumps, dark matter as leakage wakes. Speculative? Yes. No inside-horizon data exists. But so is Hawking radiation—no detection, no direct proof. This needs no virtual pairs, no infinities—just geometry and known physics. Predicts: no Hawking thermal spectrum; modified jet signatures from knot vibrations; jets as backside exhaust (venturi return flow). Physics demands elegance—or it's wrong. No new particles. No ad-hoc fields. Just dimensional geometry explaining why black holes are black.
