Restriction-Associated DNA Sequencing (RAD-Seq) of Chilean populations of Araucaria araucana (Molina) K. Koch

Araucaria araucana (Molina) K. Koch, also known as Chilean Pine, Pehuen or Monkey Puzzle tree, is an endemic conifer species from the subantarctic forests of South America. It is also the type species for the Araucariaceae family. Since 2013 is listed as endangered by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.In this study, we want to assess the levels of genetic variation and population structure of A. araucana using samples from 188 individuals from 12 different locations in Southern Chile. Understanding the genetic diversity of this species will allow for the implementation of appropriate conservation measures.
