LSAP phenotype in S. pyogenes

LSAP phenotype (resistance to lincosamide, streptogramin A and pleuromutilin antibiotics and susceptibility to macrolides) has not been described previously in GAS. This is the first S. pyogenes with lsa(E) and lnu(B) genes. The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics this isolate. WGS analysis revealed six resistance genes —lnu(B), ant(6)-Ia, aph(3')-III, sat4, tet(M), and dfrG—. The sequence containing lsa(E) and lnu(B) was differently arranged when compared with previously described structures.
