This study analyzed the gut microbiota composition of clinically well-characterized cohort systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients (N=16), compared to healthy controls (HCs, N=76) through 16S metabarcoding. 9 out of the 16 SLE patients provided a second sample, 6 months after the first one. This study shows (i) the differences between SLE patients and HCs and (ii) subgroups of SLE patients have stronger dysbiosis and more severe disease.
