资源简介:
This register records the entitlement of volunteer fire staff for long service awards, and their subsequent approval and presentation. Long service medals were presented to volunteer firemen after 15 years of service and bars were presented after 30 years of service. In March 1970, the Queen's Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was introduced, applicable after 20 years of service. The volume lists officers appointed between approximately 1922 and 1983 and annotations suggest it was maintained between the years 1967 and 1983.Officers were entitled to service chevrons every five years up until 30 years of service. For each officer listed, the following information is recorded: date of appointment; name; dates medals due, approved and presented; dates bars due, approved and presented; and a Record of Entitlement Date for Issue of Service Chevrons. There is also a remarks column in which are recorded the dates of various career events such as: positions held (e.g. captain, engine keeper), previous service, transfers, termination of services, retirement, resignation and appointment as an honorary member. The register is organised alphabetically by brigade and includes both country and metropolitan stations. For each brigade, the Authorised Strength and Actual Strength are provided.
