DEPA - Sierra Leone Theatre

The theatre project used community theatre for peace and education, using theatrical techniques and exercises to enable individuals to share their stories and life, family and community histories. It engaged semi-professional and professional adults (artists, teachers, community practitioners), 2 male and 2 female aged 18-50 from all 6 regions of Sierra Leone, hosted in a residential 5 day workshop.The 33 files in this item are video recordings of the theatre training processes.The Salone DEPA project in Sierra Leone was a part of DEPA (Decolonising Education for Peace in Africa). DEPA was a 4 year project funded by the Arts and Humanities Council (AHRC) addressing the question: What are the different knowledges and values underpinning peace and how can these practices be connected and compared across countries to create curriculum content and modes of delivery in informal and formal settings, Secondary and Higher Education (HE), in order to decolonise peace education?
