We live in an information society that produces large amounts of data, especially images (photos, videos, graphics, etc.). The role of writing decreases systematically, and the role of images increases. Educational practice is still based on the education of competences for literary culture. Humanists still learn first of all the interpretation of texts. The author postulates to change this state of affairs. The article shows the necessity of education to participate in the audiovisual culture that dominates in the 21st century. One of the most important skills in the modern world is the production of multimedia. The author presents various techniques of visualization of knowledge and programs for its creation. He also postulates that humanists should be taught to visualize data, knowledge and information. Visualization and creation of multimedia is also necessary to actively participate in creating the culture of the information society, the author says.
