VPRS 9957 Classified Subject Correspondence Files

This series comprises classified subject files containing inward and copies of outward correspondence created by the Melbourne Electric Supply Department of the Melbourne Electric Supply Company (MES Co.) from 1902 to 1930 and the Metropolitan Electricity Supply Department of the State Electricity Commission (SEC) from 1930 to 1935. MES Co. traded as an electricity supply company from 1900 to 1930 when it sold its electrical undertaking (authorisation to supply electricity ) to the SEC.The correspondence contains inquiries from other electric companies and organisations seeking advice from MES Co., about some administrative and technical aspects of supplying electricity.
