Cross breeding for salt tolerant begins with identifying salt-tolerant plants. Since most cultivated species are not salt-tolerant, cross compatible wild species play an important role for breeding salt tolerant. Vigna nakashimae, a closely related wild species, is a promising genetic resource for salt-tolerant adzuki bean (V. angularis) crops because it is cross-compatible with adzuki bean and its salt tolerance ability has already been determined. To investigate the genetic diversity, we performed MIGseq analysis using 55 accession of V. nakashimae inclusing 25 accessions newly collected from the Iki- and Goto-Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture.
