Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) from cruciferous vegetables of the Brassica genus including cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts has been verified to exhibit promising anti-tumor efficacy with negligible toxicity. In addition, I3C plays an important role in the regulation of cell growth, cell cycle, apoptosis, migration and invasion in multiple various tumors. The purpose of the current project was to investigate the possible molecular target of I3C in ESCC. Besides, the inhibition of tumor glycolysis may be a novel therapeutic strategy for different tumors. Therefore, in this project, two Glut1 inhibitors (BAY-876 and Phloretin) were used to investigate the differential mRNA expression in ESCC.
