The Montana Board of Oil and Gas Conservation (MBOGC) administers the Montana oil and gas conservation laws; promotes conservation and prevents waste in the recovery of resources; and regulates oil and gas exploration and production. The Board is a quasi-judicial body that is attached to the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation for administrative purposes. The Board's authority includes requiring that measures be taken to prevent contamination of or damage to land or underground strata caused by drilling operations and production; classifying wells as oil, gas, or Class II Underground Injection Control (UIC) wells; and adopting and enforcing rules to implement Title 82, chapter 11, MCA.蒙大拿州油气保护委员会（Montana Board of Oil and Gas Conservation, MBOGC）负责执行蒙大拿州油气保护相关法律法规，推动资源开采回收过程中的保护工作并防范资源浪费，同时对油气勘探与生产活动实施监管。该委员会属于准司法机构，行政上隶属于自然资源与保护局。其职权范围包括：要求采取必要措施，防止钻井作业与生产活动对土地或地下地层造成污染或破坏；将油井、气井及第二类地下注入控制（Underground Injection Control, UIC）井进行分类；制定并执行相关规则，以落实《蒙大拿州法典》第82章第11节（MCA）的相关规定。
